2012 AGM

The 2012 AGM is being held from 7:30pm this Wednesday the 11th at St.Michaels Church Hall. All members and patrons past and present are welcome to attend.

The AGM will be immediately followed by the first rehearsal of the Savoy’s performance piece for this years Sing For Your Supper.

A Happy New Year to all friends and members of the Helensburgh Savoy.

Wizard of Oz Programme

Here is a link to an online digital version of the show programme for The Wizard of Oz. Feel free to download, share and generally do whatever with it (we’re aware of the glitch with the front cover, doesn’t seem to be an easy fix for it though).

Programme designed by PlasmaCow Design (www.plasmacowdesign.com).

Wizard of Oz Cast Photos

A huge congratulations to the cast and crew of The Wizard of Oz for putting on an extremely well received show. We had some great audiences including a sold-out Saturday matinee with a queue outside waiting for the doors like you wouldn’t believe – so much so that we were unfortunately forced to turn people away! Quite possibly a Savoy first, in such numbers at least?

But now the show is over and the set is gone, with only a few bits and pieces remaining to be shipped out of Victoria Halls and back into storage till next year.

Our congratulations also go to the winner of the two Saturday evening performance tickets won by Jacqueline King in the URTV competition.

All the photos featured in the programme, plus a few extras are now up on the Helensburgh Savoy facebook page and the album can be found here.

Wizard of Oz on URTV

In preparation for the Wizard of Oz opening last night, URTV came to Tuesdays dress rehearsal to grab some shots, do some interviews and announce their competition for two tickets. The Wednesday news update featured this slot, which can be viewed by going here.

The feature by itself can also be viewed here (you will have to register with URTV to view just the feature).

Remember that the show runs until Saturday, with performances every evening starting at 7:30pm (doors @ 7pm); with the addition of the Saturday matinee starting at 2:30pm (doors @ 2pm). Tickets can be bought on the door for all performances.

“The Red Rose Murders” Murder Mystery Night Photos

After some delay we’ve finally got photos from our Murder Mystery night, “The Red Rose Murders”, uploaded to our facebook page. Below are a couple examples and the full set can be viewed here.

Thanks go to Celia Cameron for organising and running the evening, and to the cast of suspect characters leading the evening as played by Pauline Forrest, Frank Hotchkiss, Elise McLean, Kenny McLean, Aimi Phillips, Colin Rettie, Sarah Jane Rettie & Neil Robinson as well as to Paul Lyden for portraying the private detective guiding the investigation.

The evening raised just over £200 for the club, which has been put towards the very high costs of running our main show, which this year is The Wizard of Oz.

Savoy needs Stage Crew

Hi there folks,

Every year when the Savoy puts on a show one vital part (which the audience hopefully never sees) makes sure the show runs smoothly, that part is the stage crew.
We’re looking to recruit this years crew for The Wizard of Oz, no previous experience is necessary, only a willingness to do your bit and commit to the show run. The dates that stage crew will be required for this year are listed below. All crew dates are for in the Victoria Halls, Helensburgh. All crew are also invited to the various after-show events such as the Chinese meal, Club Thanks buffet and After Show Party.
I require names and contact details as soon as possible and if I have a crew by the end of the week then their names will appear in the show programme.
Please pass this around to anyone you think might be at all interested, even if someone isn’t a fan of musicals they can still have a great time working on the crew.
Thanks,
Euan Forrest
